How much protein should you eat?

Eating enough protein is vital for maintaining muscle mass as we age in addition to providing immune support and regulating blood glucose. Not consuming adequate protein during the day will not only make you more susceptible to cravings, but it will also decrease your body's ability to maintain muscle mass. According to the reference listed below, the recommended daily allowance of protein is 0.8 g/kg/day for adults 18 years and older, 1.2-2.0 g/kg/day for athletes, and 1.2-1.6 g/kg/day for adults age >60 plus. So if you want to get the most bang for your buck with exercise, make sure you are consuming enough protein in order to make all that exercise worth it.
